Church

Pera Pedi is a pretty village particularly in the back streets around the church of Agios Nicholaos built in 1796 which is worthy of a visit, as is the watermill on the Kyros River and the museum. If you wish to visit - tell us and we will get the key!

The first large winery was built by the British here and the buildings still stand, although they are no longer used. The steam engines that powered the electrical plant of the winery were a first for the Troodos villages when it opened.

Soft fruits such as apples and plums are widely grown, using water flowing from the Kyros River now dammed above the village.

A small winery with distinct products operates here, and we start our walk by the winery, and the river in the cool early morning. We head off uphill quite steeply for 30 minutes or so before dropping down into the valley of Ayia Mavri, with the pretty village of Kilani shining on the opposite hillside. Time from Pera Pedi to Ayia Mavri 1 hour.
