The region to the East of Troodos, Pitsilia, is well known for its vineyards and orchards, but it also has some superb mountain walking especially on and around Mount Adelphi.
There are many famous orthodox churches and monasteries, recognised as World Heritage Sites and the main village of Agros is a centre of rose growing and rose water production.
Further East is the Machairas Forest, with its famous monastery and a number of excellent nature trails on and around Mount Kionia.
The area has a colourful history, and one ancient village with its 500 year old houses is used as the base for a long running historical t.v. series.
