West Troodos

The western side of the Troodos Mountain range is largely taken up with the vast managed pine forests of the Pafos Forest and the Tylliria Wilderness.

These areas are generally uninhabited and road access is limited. On the southern and western fringes of the forest there are substantial areas of open heath land and cultivated valleys running to the coast with small sleepy villages where fruit, vine growing, and rearing of goats are the only occupations.

There are a few main villages within the forest area particularly Pano Panayia and Kambos, which offer opportunities for overnight stays.

The forests have several main rivers that flow all year and include the famous Venetian Bridges, Cedar Valley, and Kyko Monastery the heart of the Orthodox church in Cyprus.

Walking is mainly on forest tracks and some nature trails.
